Our Sloan Reunion celebrates the 100th year anniversary of our Sloan
family's arrival in the Swan Valley, near Kinuso, Alberta, Canada.  Jess Sloan and his family immigrated to Alberta from North Dakota in 1907.
The date of our reunion is August 17, 18, & 19, 2007.  It is being held at a nearby park called Spruce Point Park just north of Kinuso, AB on the Lesser Slave Lake.

The Washington A. Sloan family reunion is held every year in Resaca, Georgia on the 4th Sunday in August.  It is held at the Mt Zion Baptist Church where there is a picnic shelter named for Wash and we have plaques with the names of his children and grandchildren.  There is a cemetery at the church where Wash, many of his children, and some of his brothers and sisters are buried.  Union Cemetery in Whitfield County is only a few miles up the road and many other Sloan's from Robert's and William's lines are buried there.  We'd love to have anyone from William's, Robert's or Archibald's line attend.

Every fourth Sunday in July in Martin, Georgia, the Sloan reunion is held.  We are related to the Sloan's of Northeast Georgia and across the border in South Carolina as far north as Greenville, South Carolina.  The renunion has been held for more than 20 years at the Community Center in Martin, Georgia.  We ask that you bring enough food for your family and join with us for food, talk, and fellowship from 11:30 am until everyone leaves.  Martin, Georgia is 5 miles west of Lavonia, Georgia off of Interstate 85 on Highway 17 going towards Toccoa, Georgia.  Hope to see you there!

The "first" family reunion  for descendants and friends of David E. Sloan and Mary Osborn "Polly" East of Kirksville, MO.   We will only be staying one night in Kirksville,  JULY 16, 2005   Will be getting to the motel by noon on the 16th.
 
The motel that we choose is the Super 8, 1101 Country Club Dr., it is located on the South side of Kirksville. Their phone number is 1-660-665-8826. To make reservations tell them for the SLOAN family, they blocked 10 rooms for us, call early to make reservations.
 
We plan on showing where DAVID E. SLOAN is buried, where MARY (POLLY) EAST SLOAN is buried and where ERBIN EAST SLOAN is also buried. They are all buried in different locations. Also where they lived. We will also be meeting some cousins that still live in the Kirksville area.
 
We will be going out for supper and we will make the reservations for that after we get to Kirksville, at this point we have no idea how many will be there. All of the above is planed for Saturday. Sunday will be filled in as time gets closer.

A couple things you can do, bring any old pictures of your Sloan ancestors to show or family history books.  Please let me know if you are planning on coming to Kirksville and what time you think you will be arriving.

Joseph and Mary lived in Knox County OHIO in 1850- their children included Morris, Polly Ann, Ellen, John, Joseph, Charles, Martinbrew,
& Benjamin Pierce Sloan.  This family reunion includes all these lines- Most of the people coming to the reunion are from Charles Sloan and
Nancy Jane Griffith branch.  We are interested in each of these lines.  This family moved to Fayette County, IL sometime between 1860-1870's- this family reunion has been going on over 70 years-it is held the 4th Sunday in August.  Potluck Meal.

Some of the known related families are: Braxton, Bridges, Broome, Collins, Champion, Cloud, Finch, Fowler, Forehand, Gay, Griffin(of Decatur Co. GA.) Hatcher, Leggon, Mears, Meeks, Mullis, Robbins, Stewart.  Anyone with a connection to the Sloan family is welcome, including just good friends and neighbors.

Everyone should plan to bring a covered dish, soft drinks and ice. Several of the locals will supply some basic utensils and refreshments.  No alcohol allowed at the church and all smoking must be done outside the building.  A playground is available for the children.

Everyone planning to attend please notify the Coordinator, Frank Sloan, by no later than June 1st, 2001 so that proper preparations can be made.  Anyone needing more information or some form of assistance may also contact Frank Sloan at the above numbers.  Weekday phone calls should be after 6:00 pm CST.

Please bring any and all family information such as Family Bibles, pictures of the family new and especially old, old documents such as marriage records, funeral records, wills, deeds military discharge records, etc.  I plan to have a computer set up to scan things for the Sloan Family Database.

Please fill it out a Family Group Sheet with all known family information and return it to me prior to the reunion so I can update the Sloan Family Database before everyone arrives.

Motel accommodations are available nearby in Chipley, Florida or Dothan, Alabama if needed. Make reservations early. Rooms are going fast because of the holiday weekend.

Our ancestors used to have very large reunions in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana. From the time that David Hoover founded Richmond, Wayne Co., Indiana in 1806, his father Andrew Hoover along with other family members held very large family reunions. Now it is our turn. My sister Marcia and I are organizing the event. We have reserved a small building (with tables, chairs, and power) and a picnic pavilion, located in Glen Miller Park. Bring your laptops and exchange data with others. We will also have a computer, printer and scanner. Since we are opening this up to anyone, but in particular the following surnames: SLOAN, BROWN, HOOVER, DILL, GILLESPIE, MURPHY,  DEARDORFF, CASKEY, and BUSH, we are hoping to have a good turn out. Their will be a "bring your own food" picnic at the pavilion. There is both a Meijer and Wal-Mart’s deli where picnic style food may be purchased. There is an outdoor grill pit and we will provide the charcoal. Paper ware, flatware, bottled water, pop and coffee will be provided. Please RSVP so that we have a headcount for planning purposes.
